Brandy is a local Columbus artist and the owner of BDS Photos. She works in a variety of media including paint, paper, paper maché, decoupage, collage, and mosaic, but her main focus is on photography and framing.

Photography has been a passion of Brandy's since she was very young. On her 17th birthday, she was given her first professional camera, and from there she has always had it with her and snapped photos of everything.

Brandy's subject matter ranges from people to animals, to her favorite subject matter, either nature or architecture. She especially loves flowers for their beauty and diversity. She loves taking very close up photos of flowers, focusing on just one flower or even just part of one flower. The patterns and textures fascinate Brandy. In fact, pattern and texture in general fascinate her.

Brandy also loves the abstract. Taking photos of a part of a common object so that you might not be able to tell what it is is something she really enjoys. Giving her imagination room to make up her own story for that photo is one of her favorite techniques. Her hope is that others find the same enjoyment in the abstract.

Beyond the actual photography, Bandy also frames her own art. Part of the completion process for any piece is picking out mats and frames that really compliment her work and make it “pop.” By doing her own framing, Brandy is able to really make her art look its best.
